West senior Dominick Fonseca told coaches this week that a stress fracture will sideline him for the rest of the cross country season.

Fonseca, who has missed the last two weeks of action, was hopeful he could return at West’s 6A regional meet to qualify for the state meet, but after meeting with his doctor Fonseca decided not to risk further injury and start rehabilitating for track and field season in the spring.

Fonseca was runner-up last season in Class 5A and sixth as a sophomore.
