Most City League teams travel to the same meets and see the same competition.

West is the exception every year, as coach Terry Couch prefers to send his teams to smaller meets in Clearwater, Valley Center, Wellington, and Chaparral to begin the season.

“I know I catch some flak for it every now and then, but I think it really works for my program,” Couch said. “What works for my program may not work for other programs, but I think for us it’s the best way to go.”
