North boys, Carroll girls win City League cross countryPublished by
The North boys cross country pulled an upset to win its second City League championship in the past three seasons, led by senior Ricardo Banuelos and his winning individual time of 16 minutes, 17 seconds Saturday on the 5-kilometer course at Cessna Activity Center. Carroll, which held out its top runner Paul Becker, was upended by a North squad that was spurred on by a season-best performance from freshman Martin Anima, who ran a 16:58 to finish sixth. Kapaun sophomore Kelsi Andrews defended her league title, edging Northwest’s Gabriela Reyna by three seconds with a winning time of 14:55 in the girls 4K race.
