Cross Country Performs Well at Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. The Baker University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Missouri Southern Stampede meet over the weekend and both came away with Top 10 finishes.

The (RV) men's team finished in second place out of 20 teams, led by HAAC Runner of the Week Eduardo Esquivel who finished 10th in a time of 26:35. Also finishing in the Top 20 was Gunnar Hayes who took 19th in a time of 27:01 and Corey Matteson was 26th in a time of 27:18.

Jamie Sturery took home 38th place, Joe Linder was 43rd, Andrew Dare was 46th and Vincent Tadokoro finished in the Top 50 in 49th place with a mark of 28:10.

On the women's side, Baker finished in sixth place out of 24 squads and were led by Rachael Ash who finished 24th in a time of 19:26.

Sarah Hollis finished just three seconds behind Ash and finished in 27th place, while Jillian Benson was 32nd in a mark of 19:43 and Autumn Sifuentes took home 82nd in a time of 20:39.

Baker will next take on the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Fayetteville, Ark.
