Wildcats Travel to Indiana for Nationals

MARION, Ind. – 22 members of the Baker University men's and women's track and field teams will compete May 23-25 on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in the 62nd Annual Men's and 33rd Annual NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

10 male athletes and 12 female athletes from Baker will compete with the NAIA's finest track and field athletes this week. For a list of the Wildcat athletes competing for the 2013 NAIA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field championships, please see below.

Senior Jeremy Gathright will compete in the men's 400-meter, 4x100 meter relay, long jump and triple jump.

Senior Travis Miller will join Gathright in the long jump at nationals. Freshman Avery Parker will compete in Marion in the triple jump and Cody Viergever will compete in the Javelin thrown.

HAAC 10,000-meter champion senior Aaron Caldwell will take on the half marathon and senior Taylor Nall will take on the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Four Wildcats will compile the 4x100 meter relay team including freshman Dayshawn Berndt, freshman Asher Hannon, freshman Terren Craddock-Moore and David Gregory.

On the women's side, sophomore Tyler Sloan will have a busy week competing in the women's 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100 relay.

Freshman Khadijah Lane will join her on the 4x100 relay team and will compete in the 400-meter dash.

2013 HAAC women's 10,000-meter champion junior Megan Rosa will tackle the 10,000-meter race at nationals and senior Lauren Breithaupt will compete in her first-ever NAIA national championship meet in the 5,000-meter race walk.

Sophomore Kayla Hannam will compete in three events this week including the high jump, long jump and triple jump.

Defending NAIA National runner-up in the pole vault, senior Katie Thurbon will look to get over the hump for a national title this season again in the pole vault.

Junior Valarie Shirmer will take on both the hammer throw and shot put and defending NAIA national champion junior Stephanie Nelson will look for back-to-back national championships in the Javelin throw. She will also compete in the shot put. Junior Katelyn Wolken will join her in the Javelin competition.

Freshman Jamie Hodge will take on her first NAIA national championship in the triple jump and freshman Lauren Allen-Brown and Diamond Griffith will take on the 4x100 meter relay.
