A perfect javelin throw was just a concept in the mind of Andale junior Jeff Ast. He knew he needed just the right run-up, the right arm angle, the right mechanics, and the right release. But never had he excelled in all of those on the same throw. That is until Thursday afternoon at the Andale Invitational, where Ast launched the perfect throw that sailed 226 feet and 2 inches to win the event.
