Men's XC Takes Seventh at Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. The Baker University men's and women's cross country teams competed in one of the premier cross country meets in the Midwest on Saturday at the Missouri Southern State University 'Southern Stampede'.

The women's squad ran its fastest team time in Baker head coach Zach Kindler's tenure leading the program with a second place finish and 18:43 average time, trailing only Columbia College who won the event.

The men's team finished seventh out of 16 teams and Vincent Tadokoro ran the fastest time of any Wildcat with his 26th-place time of 26:53.

Jamie Sturery ran a time of 27:45 and just missed out on a Top 50 finish with his 52nd-place mark.

On the women's side, Lauren Jaqua and Megan Rosa each finished in the Top 5, as Jaqua took fourth in a time of 18:20 and Rosa finished just behind her in fifth place in a time of 18:31.

Then, Kerry Kurta and Jillian Benson finished not far behind the leaders, as Kurta took 13th in a time of 18:50 and Benson was 14th in a time of 18:51.

The Emporia State Invite is next for Baker, as they travel to Emporia, Kan., next Friday, Sept. 27 for its next meet.
