LAWRENCE – Klair Gibson had spent so much time working toward a state championship, she forgot to plan her celebration.

When the Douglass senior cross the finish line first to win the Class 3A title at the Rim Rock course Saturday morning in Lawrence, she didn’t know quite what to do with herself.

Her time of 19 minutes, 34 seconds was so far ahead of the competition that Gibson would have close to a full minute before the next runner finished.
